Senior Enterprise – a means of greater engagement with enterprise for those aged 50+

This workshop will be delivered by Paula Fitzsimons, Fitzsimons Consulting, Project and Communications Manager, Senior Enterprise.

Those aged 50 and over have many talents, skills and resources that can be harnessed to strengthen the entrepreneurial and SME sector inIreland. Senior Enterprise, recognised as “Good Practice” by the OECD, is being supported by the EU through INTERREG IVB NWE and is specifically designed to encourage a greater involvement with enterprise by those aged 50+.  The workshop will explore the different means by which those in this age group can engage with enterprise be it through starting a business, alone or with others, acquiring or investing in a business, advising an entrepreneur or supporting innovation in a business owned by another. The workshop will be run in an interactive way, which will involve the participants in the discussion around the topic.



  • People are living longer and staying healthier than ever before
  • Those aged 50+ may choose to engage with enterprise for different reasons and there is a variety of means of engagement possible to suit their different motivations
  • The workshop will demonstrate how Ireland is leading the way in raising awareness and developing supports to harness the potential of this age group
